I wasn't too sure where to put this, genre-wise, but I remember hearing it on the alternative rock station. The first time I heard it, I'll never forget...I was painting a snowmachine in my garage and this awesome song came on the alternative rock station. I thought to myself that it sounded like Johnny Cash - I just got chills as it was so totally kewl. Sure enough they announced that it was a recording by Johnny Cash. Some friends and I were talking about this song a few weeks ago and I decided to see if I could find a backing track - sure enough, found it!! Well after the horrible week I've had, I decided now was the time to post this, and upon doing so I'm going to leave all my hurt behind and focus on the positive as I have found a lot exists. Thanks to my wonderful friends who helped me through this rough time...I'll never ever forget. To all who listen and comment, I thank you...Drea. |

Gazed down your list after my last comment and spotted this and had to listen.. I don't know what's happened to you that hurt you so Drea, but it is good that you have chosen to put it down and go on..It's what MUST be done.. I loved and admired ole Johnny Cash.. He kissed my hand once and performed a whole concert mostly standing in the rain.. I will always hold him high.. Bless you for taking charge and moving on from whatever hurt you..and thanks for an excellent listen..:) |
Reply: Hi Connie I was so thrilled when I saw this pop up down the list. It was a rough time for me when I recorded this...it was the 5th Anniversary of my Mother's death and I was feeling kind of all alone in the world even though that really isn't the case. I loved this song, and I loved JC's version much better than NIN's. That must have been awesome seeing him. Thank you so much for the wonderful comments and the listen!! :) :) |

When I grow up I want to be just like YOU!!! (Except maybe for the long hair and lipstick!) heehee!!!! You’re just too good!!! CM |
Reply: LMAO you're cracking me up. I just loved this song and after discussing this with a friend, I watched the video again and decided I had to record it. At that time no one had done it in a long long time so I figured I throw my version into the site. I was pretty happy with this recording. I sooooo appreciate you doing this!! Hugsssssssssssss :) :) |

Way cool Drea. Thanks for letting me get a listen.
Back for a second listen! Still great Drea! |
Reply: Thanks so much for catching a listen to this. I know I sure loved your version. I tried to keep mine as true to the original as I could - just one octave up LOL. This will always be one of my favorite songs and I was pretty happy with my version. That video is something else - I've seen it several times and it just gets to me every time. I sure appreciate you listening to my version, and thanks for the comments!! Hugsssss, Drea :) |

Nice. Never thought of having a female do this. It works. Thanks for the listen. |
Reply: Well thanks so much!! I break all the rules as far as singing goes...LOL. If I really like a song, I sing it - and this was one that I have loved since I first heard it. I had to give it a try. I appreciate you back tracking to listen to this and I sure appreciate the comments!! :) |

Wow, very good! I thought Johnny Cash did a better version than the original NIN version. Have you seen the video? I still can get teary when I see it. Thanks for doing this one! |
Reply: I loved Johnny Cash's version of this...I was actually quite disappointed when I heard NIN's version. I've seen the video a few times - and it was after watching it again...combined with my life circumstances that I decided to record this. I can't watch that video without tears sliding down my face - very powerful!! I sure appreciate you listening to me, and thanks so much for the awesome comments!! :) |
