I was watching the video of Elvis and Donna Douglass on You Tube. You sound fabulous. I love these songs that tell a story. You would think there would be more about women killing their wrong doing men, wouldn't you? LOL! Woooo hooo This is NAME GAME Challenge Song Number 106. This paty is amazingly out of control. I am having so much fun. You make this place a fun place to come to. You sound fabulous. You Look fantastic up on that stage. When you finish your song, come on over to the bar Rich and Fernando are mixing you up something special. This is an American Ballad based on the real life 1899 shooting of 17 yr old Allen Albert Britt by his older girlfriend Frankie Baker in St Louis...
She shot Britt when she discovered him with a prostitute...but pled not guilty by self defense at her trial and no was declared not guilty.
Soon after St Louis song writer Bill Dooley created a song. Frankie killed Allen a week after the murder..then in 1912 Frank and Bert Leight released their version "Frankie and Johnny" since it flowed better than Allen or Albert..Since then over 250 versions have been recorded by such icons like Johnny Cash...Sam Cooke..Stevie Wonder..Can Morrison...Sammy DavisJr. And Leana Horne
