KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - Cantstopsinging performs California Nights on Karaoke Showcase - This was a hit for Lesley Gore in 1967. It's my favorite song of hers. Song was written by Marvin Hamlisch and Howard Liebling, produced by Bob Crewe. The song peaked at #16 on the Billboard charts. I was able to find one backtrack with no backup vocals on it and though it was missing the French Horn, I decided to sing that part. Parts of the chorus were a little challenge but I worked with it. Thank you if you choose to listen to me and the Social-Lites

BevB I've loved this song since I was a little girl. I can remember my sister playing her records and this was one of the songs she played. Enjoyed my listen this morning. :)
Reply: Thank you very much, Bev!! Glad to hear when someone remembers it

Keepinitcntry WOW. I was so impressed with your harmonies and the mix is right on. Love hearing the back ups up front . This song needed it and boy you hit it out of the park. Love hearing you do these Joyce. Incredible work. ~Mark~
Reply: Mark, Thank you ever so much. The harmonies were the easy part. It was a few words on the chorus that were the challenge. Glad you found this a good listen!!!

OoRIKoO Oh boy do I remember this one. I was sixteen and knew it all. It seemed like this song was on every station all the time. A fantastic job on this tune Joyce I know it was a lot of work putting this one together and you should be proud. Definitely one of your best. IMHO.
Reply: You know Rik, I recall hearing it alot on AM radio.. I was about 9 then.. She was even on Batman singing this! Then the song disappeared just like California's golden image.. I know cause I live there now but I didn't then. I appreciate your recognition of my efforts.. Thank you

mav2100 You are hitting some very sweet lows and beautiful clean highs on this one Joyce. I have never heard the Social-lites sound better! They are so worth whatever ya pay them. This is perfect on every level. I Love those Social-Lite horns. I am loving it tonight. I have never heard anyone else attempt this one except you and the girls! Standing Ovation from Chi-Town!! I think you were born too late Sister Joyce! Mwahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Pam
Reply: Hi Pam! Social-Lite horns!! Like the devil...nooo.. Had to tweak that refrain a few times because I wanted to be satisfied and don't ever want to sing this again. I think I was born too late too! Thanks so so much
