KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - MLC67 performs Dont Let The Sun Go Down On Me on Karaoke Showcase - Always a bit flat in the morning. Looking for advice on how to articulate/enunciate the ending of words when they are being held. This song has many examples. It seems like there is something other than "just do it" advice out there. "Darkness" is the first example in this song. When I sing, it comes out "Darkne." And if I try to pronounce the "s" late, it sounds weird. I'd appreciate any feedback.

sogood If you have a key change available, I'd suggest trying to sing this song in a slightly higher key. Some words and sounds are just awkward and being too high or too low can present problems. And as suggested, get really familiar and comfortable with the song and then you can afford to experiment somewhat. With some songs, I tend to push hard at first, really attack it, then rein it back in, so I'm on top of the song, rather than chasing it or feeling my way through it. Hope this makes sense and helps somewhat.

Suzanne Lanoue If you feel like it's tough or flat, you need to warm up your voice a little first by just singing quietly for awhile. Also, you should work more on learning the tune because you're off in some places (singing the wrong tune). Like "Seem to face to black and white" and "time stands still before me" and "Frozen here on the ladder of my life," among others. It sounds like you're kind of pushing too hard. This can hurt your voice. Sing a little lighter. As per your question: usually you should sing on the vowel and only put the consonant on at the very end. I like your voice with this, but you can improve if you learn it better and sing a little lighter.
