Show Tunes appeal to a certain segment of society and that segment of society is pretty small. If you were to go into the average Karaoke bar in America, you wouldn't hear very many show tunes being sung. If you walked into a karaoke bar in New York City; you might hear a lot of show tunes being sung. There will always be the karaoke bar that caters to a particular genre of music and the people who like that type of music will gravitate to that kind of place. I've been to quite a few different karaoke bars over the last 25 years or more and I have only been to one place where a lot of show tunes were performed on a regular basis. That being said; I can understand why karaoke producers don't invest a lot of time and money trying to satisfy that very small niche audience. "HAMILTON" is a very successful play. It has an audience but that audience is small when you really think about it. I have yet to hear anyone sing a song from it at any of the karaoke shows that I go to and they have not even been requested at any of my shows. I'm happy for people who want to sing them if they get produced. I just doubt that anyone makes a lot of money producing them. I don't get many people asking to sing Taylor Swift songs at my shows either but I would bet that a Taylor Swift Karaoke track sells an awful lot better than a "HAMILTON" TRACK. Sales promote investment. Everyone has a style of music that they prefer. Karaoke manufacturers aren't in the business to lose money. The days of buying 15 songs on a disc to get the one or two songs that you really want are over. What might be a filler song on a Spotlight disc years ago just wouldn't get made today; even if that filler song would be considered a lost classic to a certain part of the karaoke market.

Last week I had a lady sing The Lonely Goat Herder from Sound Of Music and it brought down the house. You just never know what is going to work. Each venue and every night is different.

I have a second grader in my school program that sings "Castle On A Cloud" from Le Miserables. Showtunes are not uncommon at my shows, but they are not the norm either.

A singer requested Helpless from Hamilton. I told her I’ll get it as soon as it’s released. Now it’s available kv but she never showed up.
Thru the years, probably my most requested showtunes: 1. Summer Nights – Grease 2. Phantom Of The Opera – Phantom o t o 3. Cabaret – Liza Minelli 4. When You’re Good To Mama – Chicago 5. Suddenly Seymour – Little Shop Of Horrors 6. Don’t Rain On My Parade – Funny Girl 7. Music Of The Night – Phantom o t o 8. Last Night Of The World – Miss Saigon 9. A Whole New World – Alladin 10. Time Warp – Rocky Horror Pic Show

If you can't find something in the book ; you can bring your own original disc and I'll play it for you. I would NEVER expect a KJ from another state to purchase a specific song for me just because I was visiting their show while on vacation (probably a one-time visit). I have no problem with doing what you just said. I bring my own personal compilations (burns from my originals) on disc and thumb drive with me all the time. Some KJs can play my discs, some can play it from my thumb drive, and some can't play from disc or my thumb drive (due to either not knowing how to open the files or just outright refusing to do so). Cue, I can do both thumb drive and cd. I have been able to do that for a while now, even though I switched softwares from CompuHost to Siglos.

^^Oooh wee, he told us^^ . Gemini, you should know by now being a ks member for almost 9 yrs majority of the threads here goes off on a tangent occasionally, and that’s understandable and will happen in discussions; but we all know that there’s always an effort made to get back to the topic. Never seen a thread that turned into a full-pledged hijack. I’m guilty as charge, and on the same token, I started a few threads myself that had been hijacked. No harm no foul because I know it will drift back on topic again. Now, can we please stay on topic!
