KaraokeFest 2015 will take place on Saturday, September 19th at the fabulous L.A. County Fair in Pomona and, by popular demand, will again be held on a Saturday. All of the exciting details for KaraokeFest 2015 will be available at KaraokeScene.com and in our coming June/July issue.
But now it’s time for this year’s KaraokeFest singing competitions! Two of the most exciting singing competitions in the country, the Crème de la Kids and our newest Crème de la Tributes! All of the qualifying rounds for the Crème de la Kids competition (for kids 17 years old and younger) will again take place exclusively at the Orange County Market Place, 88 Fair Dr. in Costa Mesa. The qualifying round dates are June 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th for both contests. Five finalists will be chosen every week from each contest to compete at KaraokeFest 2015 (no semi-finals).
Crème de la Kids: This is the one for all the up and coming talented youngsters age 17 and younger. It’s a perfect opportunity for children to compete for cash and prizes in the most prestigious junior Karaoke singing competition at KaraokeFest 2015. Hey kids, come on out, sing and enjoy the fun!
Crème de la Tributes: If you sing (and/or) look like any popular singing star or musical character, WE WANT YOU! Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks, Whitney Houston, Tom Jones. Luther Vandross, Janis Joplin, Stevie Wonder, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Cher, Madonna, Bon Jovi, the list is endless. This is one of the most exciting and flat out fun events we have ever staged at any KaraokeFest. Tribute singers, come on out and show everybody your stuff!
The Crème de la King Finals will return to the Orange County Market Place, the weekend swap meet at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, during the 16th Annual Elvis Festival on Sunday, August 30th. This was a huge success last year and promises to be even bigger this year. Special awards have been donated for the Crème de la King winners at the Festival, which is themed “Burning Love.” They include a “Dancing Elvis” three piece comforter from the Elvis Presley Home Bedding Collection and The Elvis® Candle Collection Six Pack from Magnificent Candles, an officially licensed product of Elvis Presley Enterprises for the first place winner. Second and third place winners will receive The Elvis® Burning Love Candle, also from Magnificent Candles.
The Crème de la King qualifying rounds will take place as usual at venues throughout Southern California (specific locations to be announced in the June/July 2015 issue of Karaoke Scene Magazine). There will be a qualifying round for the Crème de la King contest at the Orange County Market Place on Sunday, August 23 at 11am with four finalists selected to compete at the Elvis Festival.
It’s voting time for the “Oscars” of Karaoke, the “KJ of the Year Awards.” These awards are so important because they provide a way to honor the KJs whose special contributions to Southern California Karaoke deserve to be recognized. Whether it is great song selection, outstanding sound system, fairest rotation, entertaining personality or just overall a provider of a most special Karaoke experience, the “extras” provided by the nominees in their prospective areas make Karaoke better for all of us.
Remember, the more votes that are cast, the more representative the results. You may vote online at KaraokeScene.com. The voting begins on May 15th and ends June 15th. In the interest of fairness, only one vote per email address and two votes per IP address will be accepted. Again, the KJ of the Year Awards depend on YOU, the Karaoke community, to participate and let those KJs who are worthy know that you appreciate their efforts. They are there for you; please be there for them! Vote for your favorite KJ…they deserve it!
