It is not often that we get to break news like this so here it is…
Big changes are coming to this year’s KaraokeFest™ singing competitions! The finals for our hugely popular Crème de la King contest will take place at the Orange County Market Place 15th Annual Elvis Festival on August 24th. The qualifying rounds will take place as usual at venues throughout Southern California (locations to be announced in the June/July 2014 issue of Karaoke Scene Magazine).
But that’s not all. All of the qualifying rounds for the Crème de la Kids competition (for kids 17 years old and younger) will take place at the Orange County Market Place. The qualifying round dates are June 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th. This year five finalists will be chosen each week to compete at KaraokeFest™ 2014 (no semi-finals).
But that’s STILL not all! A brand new singing competition will be born this year, the Crème de la Tributes! Now if you sing (and/or) look like any popular singing star, WE WANT YOU! Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks, Whitney Houston, tom Jones. Luther Vandross, Janis Joplin, Stevie Wonder, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Cher, Madonna, Bon Jovi, the list is endless. This should be one of the most exciting and flat out fun events we have ever staged at any KaraokeFest.
Just like Crème de la Kids, all qualifying rounds for Crème de la Tributes will be held at the Orange County Market Place on June 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th. Five finalists will be chosen each week to compete at KaraokeFest™ 2014 (no semi-finals). Tribute singers, come on out and show everybody your stuff!
KaraokeFest™ 2014 will happen on Saturday, September 6th at the fabulous L.A. County Fair in Pomona and, by popular demand, will again be held on a Saturday. All of the exciting details for KaraokeFest™ 2014 will be available at KaraokeFest.com and in our coming June/July issue.
As KaraokeFest™ approaches, we are nearing the time for the “Oscars” of Karaoke, the “KJ of the Year Awards.” These awards are so important because they provide a way to honor the KJs whose special contributions to Southern California Karaoke deserve to be recognized. Whether it is great song selection, outstanding sound system, fairest rotation, entertaining personality or just overall a provider of a most special Karaoke experience, the “extras” provided by the nominees in their prospective areas make Karaoke better for all of us. So please be sure to vote for your favorite KJ…they deserve it!
Please bear in mind that the more votes that are cast, the more representative the results. You may vote online starting on May 15th and ending June 15th. In the interest of fairness, only one vote per email address and two votes per IP address will be accepted. Again, the KJ of the Year Awards depend on YOU, the Karaoke community, to participate and let those KJs who are worthy know that you appreciate their efforts. They are there for you; please be there for them!
KJs, please remember that to be eligible for KJ of the Year you must register prior to the start of the voting (May 15th). All KJs may register at KaraokeScene.com. Don’t wait…register NOW!
We are currently in the process of selecting the venues for our KaraokeFest™ 2014 singing competitions, the Crème de la Crème, the Crème de la Kids and the fabulous Crème de la Tributes (our exciting new competition).
