What’s New Feb 2006
The big news is…KaraokeFest 2006 will be held at the Los Angeles County Fair in Pomona on Sunday, September 17th! And what a venue! Attendance at the “Fair” is estimated to be in the tens of thousands (somewhere between 75,000 and 100,000+). It should be quite a day for Karaoke and all of the attending Karaoke community.
We are also pleased to announce that radio and television personality, Shawn Parr, will be back as host of the Crème de la Crème singing competition finals. He does such a spectacular job and we look forward to an even larger number of his signature costume changes this year.
This year’s “Fest” will feature some new wrinkles that we think you will all enjoy. We will be providing all of the exciting details for KaraokeFest 2006 in the upcoming issues of Karaoke Scene over the next few months, so stay tuned.
On a more serious note, the persistent issue of “piracy” (the illegal copying and/or selling of copyrighted Karaoke tracks) has reached critical mass. Piracy is like a cancer that is growing on the Karaoke music industry and, if is not abated, will hurt all of us who love Karaoke. Please read the article on the arrest of a Canadian for allegedly illegally copying and selling copyrighted Karaoke tracks, “Piracy…Busted in Brantford!” Hopefully this will be a warning to those who continue to do damage to the industry by dealing in unauthorized and illegal Karaoke tracks. With your help, we can, and must, do something about this, now!
More about the problem of “piracy” will be discussed in future issues and we would be happy to have your input. Please send your thoughts and/or comments to:

We look forward to hearing from you.
Karaoke Scene recently visited the NAMM Show at the Anaheim Convention Center, the largest music industry show of its kind, anywhere. It’s a huge undertaking and quite overwhelming to those who have never attended. The Karaoke industry was well represented, as usual, and some new products and concepts are on the horizon. As always, we’ll keep you informed.
Until next time…
