What’s New Apr 2004
Let’s go “singin’ at the farm” on Sunday, May23rd. The excitement level for this year’s KaraokeFest is really building and ticket orders continue to stream in. At only $18 (which includes not only KaraokeFest but all of Knott’s Berry Farm’s world class rides and attractions) it’s the best deal ever! You may order your tickets now by clicking here or by calling (714) 826-2212. Be sure to order yours in advance because they will only be available at one ticket booth at Knott’s on the day of the event and the line will probably be very long.
Everybody sings this year as there will be 7 Karaoke stages located right on the midway throughout the park. There will even be a special children’s stage in Camp Snoopy hosted by Lori & Art Johnson for all the young’ns to sing their hearts out. The other stages will be hosted by Voco Pro, Martini Blues, Starlight Karaoke, Penguin Karaoke, Cherry Sound, D&D Productions, among others. Here’s your perfect chance to be a star and sing to the thousands in attendance on this very special day.
The main show will be held in the Charles M. Schulz Theater where some of the most famous individuals and acts in show business have performed. The show includes the prestigious Golden Achievement Awards and the Crème de la Crème finals for Male & Female Karaoke Vocalist of the Year. We are delighted to announce that the Crème de la Crème finals will be hosted by popular KZLA disc jockey, Sean Parr (who, by the way, is also one of the voices of Dick Clark Productions). It should be a fabulous competition!
And speaking of the Golden Achievement Awards, the finalists are listed here. All of the nominees are winners having made it this far and those in attendance will receive a framed certificate recognizing their achievement. The top vote getters will receive the Golden Achievement Award for their respective category. The nominees and winners were selected by the Karaoke community at large casting thousands of votes by both online and physical ballots. Congratulations to you all!
Here are just a few more notes about KaraokeFest. This is an all day event. The park opens at 10am. The main show is scheduled to start at 2pm. KaraokeFest ticket holders are entitled to enjoy all of Knott’s rides and attractions in addition to all of the exciting “Fest” events. Normal ticket prices at Knott’s are $43 for adults so you can see that our ticket price of $18 is an exceptional bargain. Check out our Internet radio streamcast, ‘That’s Karaoke” (episode #8) for interviews with Craig Harreld, Knott’s Berry Farm Area Manager in Charge of Entertainment and DJ Sean Parr from KZLA FM, as well as “man on the street” interviews with park patrons and all the latest “Fest” information.
Our newest website feature, The Singer’s Showcase continues to attract more and more singers from all over the world. Give a listen if you want to be entertained or join in the fun and post a song of your own and let the world hear you sing.
Turning to another subject, a short time ago a letter was posted in our “Discussion Forum” from PV2 Rachel Moore from the 67th CSH Bravo Company North, Camp Diamondback, Iraq. Ms. Moore is originally from Sugar Land, Texas. She wrote: “I am a medic in the US Army and have only been enlisted for less than a year. You can imagine my surprise when I got out of training and they sent me here. I am a huge fan of Karaoke and when I lived in Texas I used to sing all the time. Then when I got to Germany, where I am stationed when not in Iraq, we would sing at the base bar on Thursdays. Now that we are here in Iraq we are itching to get some good Karaoke CDs. We currently have a DVD player that will play Karaoke CDs on it, but I think that we will buy a better one from the local PX (Post Exchange). I am not sure on what quality CDs, DVDs or CDGs we need, but I know we would like the ones that have words to go on the screens. I really appreciate your help in this matter. Being a soldier is tough out here, because we miss everyday things. Just today we had another mortar attack that was 300 meters away from the hospital. I guess it is a daily reminder that we are not back in the States, even though we would like to pretend.”
Well, we are pleased to say that Christian Nelson of Priddis Karaoke heard of this soldier’s request for help and responded by shipping a complete set of Priddis Karaoke DVDs to Ms. Moore’s unit in Iraq. We are very proud be associated with companies like Priddis as advertiser’s and as Gold Sponsor’s of this year’s KaraokeFest. Be sure to drop by the Priddis “Bus” at Knott’s during the “Fest” and let them know that you appreciate their generosity.
See you all at KaraokeFest!
