I recently went to his ( Lonman's ) facebook page and found this post...Sept 26,2024
Hi everyone. This is hard to say but after 33 years of karaoke at The Bird, I am at a point in life I need to put away my request slips. This will be the last 'Lonman Productions' show there this weekend. Thursday with Steven starting at 7, Friday with Kristen starting at 9 & I will be taking Saturday night starting at 9. I am currently in negotiation with The Bird for them to purchase the system so they can continue with the same great sound you are used to, your singer history over the years and requests (personal, custom and hard to find) over the years, many which are exclusive to The Bird. Kristen and Steven would continue in the same fabulous way they do. I have had some fantastic experiences there, made some kick (@$%!) friends and will miss doing what I do. Hopefully you can come out and sing one more with me on Saturday the 28th and say bye Lonman

It really weird not seeing posts from him on here....but I do get it..people move on...do different things...family..other hobbies..ect....or even pass away. I was thinking about how many KJs i used to chat with on here are no longer..Im not one who likes or deals with change very well but thats life.. I guess I just wish Lonman would have at least left a goodbye post on here...oh well Life goes on I guess

Wow. Great question, though! I've been wondering too.
I totally get it. Here, on this messageboard was the first time I saw someone ever say 'at some point you're gonna tire of being a karaoke DJ'. I'm paraphrasing. When I first saw that here, I scoffed. I said not me. I was having too much of a blast.
Whoever said that was right, though. I didn't realize: times change. It's not the same yard anymore. I myself see retirement as a very real possibility. And it's scary, I can't quickly think of a KJ who has retired who came back to the game. But I can think of some KJs who retired and haven't returned. Lonman's karaoke will be missed.
