The thing that really gets me is, all of the officials who are fighting mask mandates and vaccinations, are in fact vaccinated themselves. Governor Abbot of Texas.vaccinated in December, Governor Ron of Florida, ex-president Trump was vaccinated in March. Now the Republicans have done such a good job of brain washing, and getting people into a political death cult, they booed DT at the rally in Alabama, when he said they should get vaccinated. It is Red States that are getting hit hard, and putting children going back to school at risk. The cancer of disinformation continues to grow and fester, in this country propaganda is KING.

There seems to be much going on this week that will help in the recovery. Both the Infrastructure bill and the human infrastructure bill will be brought to the floor of the house this week. Also there will be either a continuing resolution, or raising of the debt ceiling also being decided. This is very critical otherwise we will default on the debt, and cause the Stock Market to lose an estimated 15 Trillion dollars in value. Then we would be in a world of hurt. Hopefully everything will be resolved.

Both bills are being held up causing major dissension between the moderates and the progressives over tying both bills together or passing the infrastructure bill without the social infrastructure bill. The moderates want the latter while the progressives in the house won't vote yes unless both become law.

Both bills are still held up in Congress, this brings me to my central question. Why is it we can waste money on wars that end up arming our enemies, and a military that spends annually over 740 billion dollars? Yet we can't afford universal health care, or other programs designed to lift citizens out of poverty in this country? We let our infrastructure fall apart, when countries like China spend far more than we do to modernize all of their transportation systems?

The answer is both parties have been bought by big business interests, that the corporations can have all of the corporate welfare they want. The rest of us can't afford an army of lobbyists to represent our interests. We are indeed a country that believes what is good for GM is good for the U.S.A.

P.S. I especially take issue with Joe Manchin from West Virginia. He is sitting on his yacht sipping his drink, telling those that paddled up to his boat, he doesn't want this to be an entitlement nation. Yeah only for those he feels are entitled and to hell with everyone else.

It Finally looks like the two Biden bills are close to being voted on and passed. It was too late to effect the off year elections held Tuesday, but still might provide hope for the mid term elections next year. It looks like new mandates will require all companies with 100 or more employees will have to have their employees vaccinated by Jan 4th. After that date OSHA will fine each employer not complying $14,000 per employee who fail to get vaccinated. Slowly but surely things are moving ahead, let us hope we can solve the supply chain problems, or things could get dicey around the Christmas holidays.

Today Trump attacked Mitch McConnell for not fighting harder to stop the infrastructure bill. He did not want the Dems aka Libs to have a victory on an item he was never able to pass. If he were to get reelected there is little doubt in my mind he would want to dismantle the bill much in the same way he wanted to do away with Obama care. This is legislation that both sides wanted and the majority of Americans wanted passed. There has been little done to modernize our infrastructure, and has been the goal of many administrations over the last 30 years. The reason the ports are backed up is failure to invest in improving them. The sad fact is only 17 billion is going to all ports, Singapore has just finished a new state of the art commercial port and spent more than 20 billion on that one item.

Now Trump wants Mitch to fight the raising of the debt ceiling, even if it means destroying the U.S. Economy. Even Mitch isn't that dumb the U.S. government has never defaulted on it's debt, if it were to do so it would throw us into a severe recession, maybe even a world depression. This is no longer a matter of politics as usual, but rather a scorched earth policy, that will effect all of us for decades to come. Donald does not care about the rest of us, it is all about the death cult developed by Trump, and eventually he hopes his own complete control of the Republican Party, and of course this nation. The current recovery is still an on going process, we don't need someone coming in destroying everything just for their own selfish ends.

The question to many of us is when can we return to normal, the answer might be never? One thing I have found out over the years is you cannot go back, you have to keep moving forward. The pandemic has exposed much of what is wrong with this country, the only question is what are we going to do about it as a nation? Austria has one of the worst vaccination rates, and has had to have another lock down which started last Monday. As far as the EU is concerned Austria as one of the highest infection rates 67%, and is requiring mandatory vaccinations by February for all of it's citizens.

By contrast this country is in even worse shape with vaccinations, two states that have really pushed vaccinations California and New York might have over 95% of the public employees vaccinated, but the general population numbers are lower 62% for California and New York 67%. Other states especially in the South have even lower vaccination rates. Well we aren't locking down and there is yet another variant of this virus coming from South Africa, that is still being checked against the current vaccines. In the last week we have had up ticks in infection rates, over 97% of new cases continue to come from the non vaccinated.

Many workers have still not gone back to their jobs, they want a better deal. Employers are trying to wait them out hoping they will come back to work and start pulling on the oars again. The trouble is things weren't so hot for the majority of American workers before the pandemic, why return to working 3 jobs just to make ends meet? My dad used to say, "If you work two jobs you need to make more on your first one". Over the next 3 years democracy will be on the ballot, so will workers rights and other issues. Yes we are not in Kansas anymore, these are both exciting and dangerous times for our country.

I don't see what the problem is, no one is keeping you from discussing other topics related to karaoke. The Pandemic is effecting every aspect of human interaction, that includes karaoke. Until we can solve the problems dealing with the pandemic/economy, the karaoke industry is not going to make a full recovery, it is simple as that. If you really want the nightmare ended then get your shots. This is especially true now since we are facing the omicron variant which could end up killing a possible 10,000 a week if left unchecked. There are already reports that it is here in the United States.

This is a relevant topic to kjs and karaoke. You do not have to read it and can unsubscribe the notifications.

But in keeping with your standards - please refrain from posting topics like Stephen Sondheim Gone or Lady Gaga artist of the year etc. in the 'karaoke forum' that has to moved to off topic since it has absolutely nothing to do with 'karaoke'. Thanks

Mr Scott, I hope that the case of the new variant will not touch you in any way.

I just found out two friends have died from covid-19 both within a week of each other. One was a KJ friend of my who was quite young. To me this demonstrates the virus must be taken seriously by everyone. We can't have 30 to 40% of the population refusing to take the vaccine and hope for a full recovery anytime soon. I have already delayed travel plans several times due to the pandemic, seems I will have to wait awhile longer.

P.S. Flash the omicron variant can reinfect those that have already had the virus, so your natural immunity will not be enough. Shots and a booster is needed to beef up immunity.

The sad thing is... as long as 40% of the population refuse to get vaccinated, new variants will appear every few months. Each one more deadly than the last. Eventually, we'll have a variant that will be immune to any type of vaccine. Thousands will die every day and the human race, as we know it, will become extinct.

Come on Alan we won't become extinct, just the 40% who think this is some kinda game. Many of whom don't share my point of view anyway.

Meet hundreds of people a week. Still no SHOT. And, No mask...ever...except where the "scured" people work. I shake hands and hug. Yep, still here.

Only lost 2 months of work during the past 2 years due to mandatory closing by 11pm...dumbasses.

Doesn't matter if you live in a Republican state. They all have Communist...oh, I meant Democrat...massive stronghold CITIES.

Just heard on local news (major affiliate), that I hardly EVER watch, admitting that "cloth masks" only protect from 30%-40%. Huh, imagine that. I think that kind of mask is what the majority wear. It's definitely what is offered upon entering an establishment if you don't have a mask...LMMFAO.

Yeah, and 1 plus 1 still equals 2. I just can't believe this because I'm sure that whoever came up with this didn't have a college degree and was, maybe, old or something...or possibly...a veterinarian.

Consider yourself lucky. Thousands of others were not as fortunate. I take it that you are a Republican or support the Republican Party. So, let me ask you...

How can you, in good conscience, support a party that embraces of lies, deceit, and corruption? One who supports conspiracy theories, violence, and terrorism? A party whose only motivation is their own political power? A party who puts their own selfish needs over helping the American people?

Now we all know that Trump didn't win the election. He lost by 7 million votes. 7 Million!!!! Not even close. In an election that is said to have been the most secure election in history. Yet, your party is trying to feed the American people a bunch of lies about it being "stolen" just because they didn't like the outcome.

Yet, the Republicans, embrace this lie and coddle to this clown who started it.

How do you support a party who has tried to overthrow the government with the insurrection on Jan 6, 2021?

At one time, the Republican party had a purpose and was respectable and honorable. Now, it's a party that only cares about themselves, and their power, supporting lies, deceit, and corruption at any price as long as they can reign supreme.

Aren't you embarrassed? Is this the America that you know? Is violence and terrorism now accepted if you don't like the outcome of an election?

There is nothing to be proud of in calling yourself a Republican in today's world.

The elephant in the room is the current system of electing electors to vote for the candidate. The office of the President should be elected by the direct vote of the citizens, and we should get rid of this outmoded means of selecting the next Chief Executive Officer of this country. You can see with the current system a handful of battleground states are determining the fate of the nation, we are not leaving it up to the majority to make the right decision. It is much easier to manipulate the outcome as the Republicans are currently trying to do, when the next election rolls around.
