This is the second I'm learning in my guitar lessons... I'm playing and singing at the same time here. It's very difficult! I've only been taking lessons since Sept. 3. It's a lot of fun, though! I make a few mistakes but it's ok :) Still learning. The last note is too low for me to sing but that's ok, too! Hope you enjoy it. Oh, forgot to say, this is all from memory. The song only uses 3 chords, G, C and D. Those of you who have snow, sorry about that. I wouldn't mind 55 degrees right about now. It's 7:30pm and it's 88 degrees and 72% humidity here in Honolulu. But it's paradise! LOL! Hard to play guitar when sweat is dripping off your fingers... |

It is like patting your head and rubbing your belly at the same time. Nevertheless, a good performance from you Suzanne. Enjoyed this - Keep at it and it'll be second nature to you in no time. I take my hat off to anyone who can play and sing simultaneously. I have recorded backing tracks with my keyboard and sung along to them, but to do both together would be asking far too much of my brain! |
Reply: Thanks! Yes, indeed, it sure is... |

One suggestion and that is to play the guitar on one track and then record your vocals separate.More times than not,the only time a band plays and sing is on stage, they usually lay down the instrument on one track in studio recording and then sing vocals only on another track. |
Reply: Thanks I have done that as well, but the point here is to learn to do both at once :) So I can sing and play in a band, live...

Hi Suzanne, one of my fav oldies from younger days. I did it too but sound awful.
Are the callouses on your fingers coming along? Don't you find playing and singing at the same time difficult. I was not good enough to "forget the guitar" so my singing did not get the concentration it should have sometimes unless i knew the song backwards. But for many years my only accompinament. And
your playing reminds of this. I have four guitars - different kinds including my first one i bought in Figueras and is leading a sorry existance now. Listening to you is encouraging me to try again. Great that you are doing this and for the short time you have it sounds super.

Reply: I do have good calluses and it helps a lot. Yes, very difficult to do both. It's a challenge, which is what makes it fun. The thing is, no one expects me to great, especially right now, so it's just fun. Anything I do is, to me, impressive, since I just barely started. I only practice a half hour a day, but to me it sounds awesome. I don't mean it sounds professional but I mean, I never though I could do this at all with my tiny hands, so I'm really loving it! |

Ironic, I've been strumming those chords practicing too! Not as good as you yet and haven't recorded while playing yet...good job Suzanne! Lee |
Reply: Thanks, Lee! Just trying to play all the way through, for the recording, is really good practice. I've been trying to do that, and then once I got that, I tried adding my voice. This was my second attempt that worked. The first time, I had the mic too far away so I had to move it closer to my face. Just practice practice practice! :) |
