KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - DEE performs I Can Only Imagine on Karaoke Showcase - *** YOU *** may read if you'd like, but if you don't care to, it won't hurt my feelings *** Hello to all of you. I hope you're all well. This song is POPular among the Christian community and other's. However this song is also known as a ballad. In which 'I Can Only Imagine' what it would be like in heaven. I sang this at the Cathedral this morning (by the way yes there is a lot of echo due to the marble walls of this grand church and cannot remove them). If you'd like I have a night shot picture of this Cathedral in my photo's if anyone is interested in seeing where I sing. Here is more info from Wikipedia: ' "I Can Only Imagine" was the debut single for United States contemporary Christian and Christian rock band MercyMe. The father of Bart Millard, the band's vocalist, died in 1991. Millard was 18 at the time.[1][2] Millard began writing the words "I can only imagine" on items when he was thinking about his father.[3] During the recording of the band's 1999 independent album The Worship Project, MercyMe needed one more song to fill out the album.[4] Millard, alone on a bus in the middle of the night, finally wrote the lyrics to the song by drawing on his thoughts and personal faith about what one would experience standing before God in Heaven. Millard attests that "['I Can Only Imagine'] is one of the only songs I have ever written where there wasn't any mistakes, it was just written the way it is and left at that",[4] and estimated that it took him only ten minutes to write the lyrics.[3]' and also can say is that this song had/has a deep impact on me,and my eldest son, personally due to the death of my son back in Dec. 2, 2011. People have told me just leave it alone. Get on with your life, but we do. I don't cry everyday, but at times we do and there's nothing wrong with it.We are Christians and we know he's in PARADISE with God, but there is not one day that we don't think about him. We do miss him a great deal. If you have ever had somebody important in your life pass away, you know as a Christian, that they are up in heaven with our Lord. They are in a better place. We feel the loss down here. We may cry and be sad that they are no longer in our lives, but what a wonderful thing it is to know that they are free of pain, fear, and stress. I can only imagine what is must be like to be in heaven. I did Amy Grant's (2002) version of this beautiful and enlightening song. I thank you for reading of how this song came to be and welcome your listens and comments. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone... Love, DEE
