If I had to choose my favorite singer Ray Price is number 1, sadly he passed away Dec 16,2013, but his legacy lives on, his music will never die. I listened to ray for 60 years of my life, since I was 9 years old on WSM "the Grand Ole Opry. He sounded just like him mentor, Hank Williams Sr util he made his breaktrough in his own style in 1957 with Heartaches By the Number, and his remarkable voice of his high notes to his low notes, the mold is broken, there will never be another Ray Price. Rest in Peace and thank you for your very real life living songs.
I met Ray in 1974 in Cherry Hill NJ in the Latin Casino, he was doing a show with Ms Patti Page, my ex wife's cousin and we were invited to his dressing room after the show, I night I cherished for 40 years. |
