This recording is a first for me because I created it from scratch. All my previous submissions have been used with an existing backing track. For this I made the accompaniment track with using one of my old electronic keyboards from the 90s (hence the sound quality not being terrific!) playing the chord sequence over a standard 6/8 blues sample rhythm. But the real time consuming part was I recorded all vocal parts individually and in stages. The lead vocal was a doddle but the backups were a bit of pain at times (sometimes as many as five part harmonies at a time) but I am generally pleased with the result and hope you are too. The song itself is a lovely old doo-wop rarity from (I think) the late 1950s, and has become a favourite of mine in recent years. Happy Christmas folks! |
