Here's a '50s rocker that's been credited by many to represent the quintessential flashpoint of a new musical style that swept across the country like a massive tidal wave. With flavorings of R&B and country, it appealed to white and black teens, alike, from all walks of life. Initially, called 'race music', it soon morphed into its universally recognized moniker, Rock n' Roll. Rock pioneers like Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters and others created core riffs that turned out to be the basis of an ever expanding canopy of sub-genres that's made Rock n' Roll the enduring and influential art form it remains, even, today. Berry was among the first musicians to be inducted into the 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame' on its opening in 1986, with the comment that he "laid the groundwork for not only a rock and roll sound but a rock and roll stance . . .".
