KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - JA.MARTINEZ performs DADDY'S HOME on Karaoke Showcase - This oldie, by Shep and the Limelites, is a classic example of the popular Doo Wop music genre, which started in the early fifties and ended, essentially, with the arrival of those very cool British rock 'n rollers who hit our shores a decade later. This tune is near and dear to my heart for a very personal reason. Etched in my mind, as if it were only yesterday, is the memory of step-toeing up to my baby daughter's crib while singing this tune, after returning from one of my extended business trips. Julianne would give me the biggest smile every time (a recent USC graduate, she's all grownup, now, busy with her career, at a large financial concern). I had planned to post this song a couple of weeks ago but noticed, at the time, that someone else had already done so. The version I'm singing is actually a nod to a "Chicano" group, Thee Midniters from the East Los Angeles area. I saw them perform this in person at the El Monte Legion stadium way back in the '60s. Their unique singing style impressed me and has stuck with me ever since (IMO no other group's version, including the original, compares to Thee Midniters version). l hope you enjoy this special dedication to my little girl (which she'll always be to me, no matter what). Thanks for your listens - GO TROJANS!!! John. www.novatechsolutions.com/MYSONGLIST/OLDIES/Daddy's Home_HS.mp3
