KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - JA.MARTINEZ performs QUEEN OF HEARTS on Karaoke Showcase - The sub-genre, Southern Rock, with its distinctive fusion of rock, country and blues-based music has always appealed to me, as both the seasoned listener and amateur singer I've remained for many years, now - LOL! Groups like The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ top, The Marshall Tucker Band, 38 Special and the Edgar Winter Group, to name but a few, helped revive a musical format that almost faded into obscurity as the 'British Invasion' hit the U.S., in the mid '60s). Southern Rock is truly as American, as apple pie (i.e., southern-themed Americana music goes back to the earliest days of Elvis, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Carl Perkins, and Buddy Holly). Today, I'm posting a beautifully arranged tome, as written and performed by the incomparable southern rocker, Gregg Allman (from his '73, "Laid Back" album. "Queen of Hearts" is a sensitive and introspective tune that combines the cool sounds of a classic Hammond B-3 organ together with a sprinkling of Jazz elements to produce an amazing collaboration (the song remains a musician's dream to play along to). From a lyrical perspective, the song says a lot of things to a lot of people - for me, it offers the perfect way to say happy anniversary to my life-partner and best friend, Gracie, my wife of 33 years (Feb. 16, 1980). Here's a sampling of the song's lyrics: AND AFTER ALL THAT WE'VE BEEN THROUGH/ YEAH, I FIND - WHEN I THINK OF YOU/ A WARM SOFT WIND RUNS THROUGH 'N THROUGH/ AND IN MY HEART THERE'S ONLY YOU/ AND I WILL ALWAYS KEEP ON TRYING/ TOGETHERNESS BRINGS PEACE OF MIND/ WITHOUT IT THERE'D BE LONEY ME/ YES, DARLIN' THERE'S ONLY YOU/. This mix was produced using VR software since I was unable to find a karaoke backing, anywhere. Thanking folks in advance, for your listens/comments. I hope ya' all have a super weekend - I know I will - LOL! John. www.novatechsolutions.com/MYSONGLIST/BLUES/The Queen Of Hearts_HS.mp3
