KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - Cantstopsinging performs If Looks Could Kill on Karaoke Showcase - I was having a topsy turvy day and so I used the energy to record this.. I added some bg vocals and was relieved when I was finishing it up and my upper harmony took off trying to sound like a wailing guitar..lol.. and yes, it helped my day.. "If Looks Could Kill" is a song written by Jack Conrad and Bob Garrett, recorded by rock band Heart. It was released as the fifth and final single from the band's self-titled 1985 album Heart. Musically the song is similar to early Heart tunes as it is an aggressive, hard rock number. In the song, lead vocalist Ann Wilson confronts a cheating lover, letting him know that "if looks could kill / you'd be lying on the floor". After four top-ten U.S. singles (including the number-one "These Dreams") from the Heart album, "If Looks Could Kill" stalled at number fifty-four on the Billboard Hot 100. The band would rebound the following year with Bad Animals, and their most successful single yet ("Alone").
