Released in Aug. '91, by L.A.-based heavy metal band, Metallica, "Enter Sandman" is one of five hit singles that emerged from their highly successful fifth album, "Metallica" (i.e., aka "The Black Album"). With over 25 million copies sold, not only is "Metallica" their best selling album to date (4 weeks at #1, on the Billboard 200 chart), but, also certified 15x Platinum, by RIAA. "Enter Sandman" is a simple 'one-riff' song, according to band-mates. Acclaimed by critics and fans, alike, the final mix utilizes three rhythm guitar tracks of this basic riff, tom-toms, a wah-wah pedal and distorted guitars to create a 'wall of sound', as played by lead guitarist, Kirk Hammett, rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist, James Hetfield, bassist, Jason Curtis Newsted and drummer, Lars Ulrich. The sinister sound that results fits perfectly well with lyrics that deal with the concept of a child's nightmares. This has to be the ABSOLUTE best metal lullaby ever written - LOL!
