"Night And Day", written by the accomplished American composer and songwriter Cole Porter is considered to be his finest contribution to the Great American Songbook. The GAS refers to the music of Broadway musical theater, Hollywood musicals, and Tin Pan Alley (NYC-based publishers & songwriters). These tunes were popular between the '20s and early '60s and predated the emergence of my favorite genre, Rock and Roll - LOL!
Here's my stylized take on Frank Sinatra's upbeat version of this universally recognized song (Sinatra recorded four different versions of "Night And Day", during his career). Note my attempt to capture Sinatra's signature phrasing & "expressive" timing characteristics, traits most singers simply ignore due to the difficulty it adds to one's ability to "keep proper time". I find this aspect of Sinatra's style to be most appealing and unique, when compared to all other singers of his generation (from the Album, "A Swingin' Affair", released on Capitol Records in 1956).
I hope everyone enjoys my rendition of this great standard. Thanks for your listens. John.
