KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - MJK performs Consider Yourself on Karaoke Showcase - Going through my older recordings (somewhat similar to bumping into those ghosts that paid visit to Scrooge, let me tell you!) I found this one and this song I'll always remember. I was about 7 and as part of the glee club at school, they picked me to sing this. Mrs. DeShields, the music teacher, told me wear clothes that made me look like a street urchin (my mom did a nice job with that look) and that day just when it was time to tread the boards with this one, Mrs. DeShields decided I was not "grimy" enough, so she went outside with a handful of soil and spread it all over my face. The effect was beautiful, until that humid June heat started making me perspire while I performed this--I walked off looking like a giant mud pie of sorts. And the dirt was getting in my eyes too--you don't forget magic moments like that! Anyway, I felt this would be a good one for the season, and thanks for listening! Michael
