KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - JA.MARTINEZ performs PINK CADILLAC on Karaoke Showcase - "Pink Cadillac" is a classic rocker written and released by Bruce Springsteen and his favorite backup group, The E Street Band (i.e., Columbia Records, May '84). The song, in the same way Prince's '83 hit single "Little Red Corvette" uses the automobile as a metaphor for sexual activity, particularly, where Springsteen's lyrical phrase, "I love you for your pink Cadillac", represents a veiled reference to the female genitalia. Springsteen, himself, vetoed the first attempt by a female singer, Bette Midler, to release a version of the song, saying it wasn't intended to be sung by a female (in '88, Natalie Cole hit it big on the R&B charts with her treatment of the song). A new recording for me, I'm interested in getting feedback from listeners on the "rockabilly" style I used, while singing this very cool rocker. If Springsteen heard my version of his song he'd probably sue me - LOL! I've always thought the song should be sung more in the style of Carl Perkins rather than the way Springsteen presents it, in his original arrangement. I hope y'all enjoy my take on this classic and that each of you has one heck of a great week, wherever you are! John. http://www.novatechsolutions.com/MYSONGLIST/CLASSIC ROCK/Pink Cadillac_HS.mp3
