KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - Steven John performs Hold Me Now on Karaoke Showcase - Hello friends, it's all 80's for me for a while. We got a huge 80's theme gig in July...so I'm going into my new wave mode :). I had to put this under "ROCK" genre, because there is no "80's" or "new wave"...but this song is by no means rock!LOL it's funny back in the day when these songs were popular...I laughed at how silly they were...but now I actually like them and love to perform them:)I guess its brings back the good ole days,This backing track in my opinion is better then the original and had no backround vocals...so I had fun playing with this one:)take care and have a great week.

Mark Cheetah Hey Steven, I believe it was Roy's brilliant idea to get rid of the "70s" and "80s" genres, and replace them with "Rock n' Roll." Not sure if I'll ever understand the reasoning behind that, because this song song is a prime example of the 80s genre! And man, your voice sounds incredible on it! Did you do doubling in some spots? Very tight, and you nailed the melody with perfect sound! I like the effects, too... and that long note towards the middle is killer. Awesome job, man!
Reply: Hey Mark, as I mentioned in my sub comment there were no backing vocals so I just toyed with adding extra voices to not leave the blank spaces in between but didn't get elaborate with the 3 part harmonies. Yea if they just put a 70's 80's & 90's genre that would cover a lot of territory. This is another one of those cornball songs when back in the day you & I were listening to Priest & Maiden LOL but I do dig them now. Thanks a lot my man!

Suzanne Lanoue I know what you mean, I am that same way about disco as well as some 80's songs, hated them back then but now I like them... You sound very good!! I heard someone do this the other day, live, in a bar... it was just two guys, not a full band, no drums... but it was great, a nice unplugged version. Funny thing is, his other songs sucked!! LOL!!!
Reply: I know what ya mean about the love hate thing...I'm still on the fence with Disco myself though. I think this song being done as an unplugged acoustic would be very cool & that gives me an idea for my band! Glad you enjoyed this, thank-you!

johanna Hi there Steven: must admit not to be very familiar with 80s songs..and now you must wonder from what planet I came from..lol. Ok..it's a fact..another fact is that I am glad you introduced this one to me. Sounding GOOD !! Good job on the "playing with this one" too :-) I am sure your 80s gig in July will be a major success !!! I just KNOW it !!
Reply: Hey Johanna, you mean to tell me you don't know this song?LOL only kidding. Yea this is a little happy number that always brings a smile to my face when hearing or performing it...like I said I think it's about old memories then the song itself. As always thank-you for your lovely comment!
