The song has been recorded by a myriad of artists, through the years, including; Eartha Kitt, Earl Grant, Dinah Washington, Doris Day, Lenny Welch, Ramsey Lewis, The Rascals, Barbra Streisand, Bonnie Raitt, Andy Williams, Michael Bolton, Natalie Cole, B.B. King, Ronnie Milsap, Gladys Knight, Van Morrison, and, George Benson, among many others. The biggest hit version was recorded by Lenny Welch in 1963, when it reached the #4 spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
