KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - syberchick70 performs Come Undone on Singer's Showcase - Sequenzzer inspired me to share another Duran Duran song. I had to switch around the high/low parts to fit my range, hoping for feedback on how that works out. Sorry about the stuffy sound in my voice, getting over a cold here.

JA.MARTINEZ Hi Syberchick, First off, I'm not a Pro although I do believe the mixes I post here and on other sites are consistently of a higher quality than most other member's subs (it's not accidental - I work very hard on each recording or live performance I participate in). To me, SS is more like a community of peeps who have a passion for music rather than a place where serious singer/musicians gather to collaborate on their aspirations. With regard to this sing, I enjoyed your take on Summertime much more than this slow drawn-out-yawner of a song (not what I'd envision to be representative of a classic Duran Duran song - unplugged or not). I agree that the first couple of verses came across as "weak" or wobbly sounding, however, I would attribute this to the singing style you employed rather than a fundlamental problem with your voice/tone/range. I do believe you're one of the better singers to grace SS of late & look forward to hearing more from you (SS member since '07). TC. John
Reply: LOL 'yawner'! ;) Thanks and you certainly do not have to be a 'pro' to give me feedback on my subs! Thanks very much for your take on the submission, everything is helpful! :)

Suzanne Lanoue I don't know the song, so I went and listened to it on youtube. It's really hard to compare because your version is so different. Theirs is so processed and rockin' but yours is more unplugged and mellow. I don't really like the way you go down in the pitch on the chorus. I think the way they did it works better. I think that's because the chorus is usually the apex of the song, to a certain extent, and that means melodically as well as everything else. Reversing it doesn't work. Hope that makes sense. I can't tell if it's the stuffiness you meant or not but the vocals at the beginning sound wobbly. Like, when your voice wavers on "tattoo" was that intentional or an effect? I think if you sing it with a bit more breath it would help. Now, I listened to some of it first before hearing the Duran Duran version to compare, and I thought it was ok but still wobbly at the beginning. So maybe just refine it a bit. :)
Reply: Thank you Suzanne, yeah my voice was definitely not at its meager best for this song and I'm still recovering. Thank you so much for the advice, three times is the charm, I'm thinking this approach just isn't working for me on this song. I'll either have to try something different, or give it up. ;) Thanks!

johanna My first time hearing this song, and gotta say that I like it. I sure admire how you can play the guitar and sing at the same time. The song has many tones (hope I say that right), and you showed them all. Enjoyed this !!
Reply: Thank you :)

Sequenzzer Interesting take on this song. I tell it like it is,and am speaking strickly from a critique point for constructive criticism for you when I say I personally think this being just guitar and vocal for this song was just a little boring. Would have been much more interesting adding some strings, smooth choir or soft pad sounds, maybe even some electric piano to fill it out some.I like your voice, but don't think this was the proper song to showcase that. Thank you for this dedication, and thanks as always for your support in listening and commenting on my posts.
Reply: No problem and thanks! Yeah, maybe this song doesn't work for me... dunno, that's why I put it up here, to find out! I appreciate the feedback on it. Thanks again! :)

Mark Cheetah You sang a sour note at :43 in. Voice sounds a little weak at the beginning, but gets better as the song goes on. I understand you're probably doing that on purpose so that the song "builds" (which is a good effect) but your voice is just a little TOO weak in the first verse. But you DO have nice sensitivity in your voice, so you're on the right track. But you might want to work on that first verse a little. You're playing & singing at the same time, right? It's very good, and difficult to do. Good job.
Reply: Yeah, I think you're right. I did go off a bit there. This song is kind of an experiment for me, so it's good to know what you think of it. Yes, playing and singing at the same time. Thanks for the advice! :)
