Description: |
"You Wear It Well" is taken from the fourth solo album of English singer-songwriter Rod Stewart, entitled, "Never A Dull Moment". This rock classic, co-written by Stewart and classical guitarist Martin Quittenton, became an overnight sensation on its release in 1972, reaching the #1 and #13 slots on UK and US charts, respectively. About 3 weeks ago, I gave a copy of one of my custom CDs to a good friend of mine and was happy to hear her later say how much she enjoyed it. She added that she, especially, liked this particular Rod Stewart song. I was a bit surprised because I had recorded the song with my dynamic mic (before purchasing my condenser mic in late '09). This song is one of my favorite Rod Stewart tunes from the past so I decided to re-record it so I could share the vastly improved sound quality of this new recording, with my cyberspace buds. The song tells the story of a young man's 'not-so-easily' forgotten love. All he's left with are the memories they'd once shared, so long ago. Here's what Rolling Stone Magazine had to say about Stewart in their '84 Industry tome, titled "Illustrated History Of Rock & Roll". It states, in part, "Rarely has a singer had as full and unique a talent as Rod Stewart ... a writer who offered profound lyricism and fabulous self-deprecating humor, teller of tall tales and honest heartbreaker, he had an unmatched eye for the tiny details around which lives turn, shatter, and reform ... and a voice to make those details indelible. ... His solo albums defined by two special qualities: warmth, which was redemptive, and modesty, which was liberating. If ever any rocker chose the role of everyman and lived up to it, it was Rod Stewart". I hope you enjoy my take of this old rocker, "You Wear It Well" jogs a few memories and brings a smile to your faces in the same way it always seems to, for me (during the song's break I've improvised the following spoken lyric, "Here comes the postman - please see that she gets this, for me, will ya?"). Thanks to those of you who are able to drop-in for a visit. Your comments and feedback are always welcome. Take care, all.
