Written by Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn in 1960, arranged and conducted by Nelson Riddle, and originally and most-famously performed by Dean Martin, here is my version using a vocal-eliminated original recording. An alternate arrangement can be heard in the movie, "Ocean Eleven." The song has appeared in a variety of other movies and in some commercials. The theme of the lyrics is the guy's very ironic attitude toward the fact that he clearly must have fallen head-over-heals in love with the girl. Otherwise, why would they be picking out furniture together. It's the irony that makes the song so cool. Enjoy. -- Donn |
