KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - Mark Cheetah performs Mr. Brownstone on Karaoke Showcase - *****WARNING: there's a cuss word at 2:39***** Hi everyone, here's my 2nd contribution for the "Color Challenge." I was hoping to have a different one ready today, but I'm still working on it. Anyway, this song, "Mr. Brownstone" is from Guns N' Roses' groundbreaking 1987 release "Appetite For Destruction." Spawning mega-hits like "Sweet Child O' Mine," "Welcome To The Jungle," and "Paradise City," the album has been certified diamond (18+ times platinum), selling 33 million copies worldwide as of October 2008. Although the songs mentioned above are the most successful, there are plenty other great, hard-rocking tunes on the album, such as "Night Train," "It's So Easy," "Rocket Queen," and this song, "Mr. Brownstone." These songs got very little radio airplay, so I was pleasantly surprised when Sound Choice decided to release it as a karaoke track. I've always felt that the Appetite For Destruction album showcased their best work; after they switched drummers in 1990 they went in a more commercial direction, releasing hits like "November Rain," "Estranged," and other songs that I feel lacked the chemistry and hard-rocking edge that was present in their earlier line-up. I wish more karake songs were available from the "Appetite For Destruction" album, but I'm really happy to have this one. I hope you like it, and thanks for listening!
