KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - oneofakind864 performs dont leave me this way on Karaoke Showcase - OK- this is probably going to go over with many of you like onions and chocolate. I have never quite figured out why "Disco" out of all the music in the world inspired such strong feelings. You either love it or hate it- but I don't know anyone who is ambivalent to it. I happen to be in the first category- It brings back warm memories of when I was an adolescent who couldn't wait to be old enough to go to places like studio 54(Of course it closed down before I actually WAS old enough Waaagghhhh!) I remember holding a either a spoon or a hairbrush for a mic and pretending that I was Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, or the lady who did this song-Thelma Houston. So if you don't like disco- move on to another sub- but if this genre brings back fond memories of the funkiest period in dance history- press listen and get yo boogie on! Disco never dies in my book!

rendition No lessons in Disco--But it is my favorite style of music. It actually exists today in many many songs that come out. Believe me, it's there. The People, Their lifestyle and Dress-code killed Disco image, but ---The disco beat will never die off , in my opinion. YMCA is still one of the most popular songs at any venue. Songs like Funky Town, Play that Funky Music--White Boy,etc.etc., played live will today still outdraw most other style of music. (Barring name bands draw) Now you know Paula, I put this sing in a top shelf category. Just marvelous. Pete-Rendition___EDIT Read this again--not Disco music dying--it's the Disco Image that will never return--Studio 54 went bust because of the Lewd behavior and drug connections. That's my point.-That's my opinion. The music is great-and be around Forever.
Reply: I'd disagree with you about the image dying out- "cuz I've never seen such a resurgence of 70's styles as I have recently. Disco may be many things but the 1 thing no one could deny is it's danceability. So its always gonna be around especially w/ the way the new generation seem to sample everything instead of making up something new. I agree 100% about the draw it has! I value your experience & Talent so your opinion is something special- Thanks for that top shelf rating!!(all smiles) -Paula

the crooner Hi Paula, I wasn't a big Disco fan but I used to play my fill of it. I remember singing backup to this one to packed crowds in Brooklyns Town Hill II. I must say it was loads of fun... You sound fantastic singing this. Excellently done... Crooner Hi Paula, clarification in order. Never played with Thelma Houston. Played with a pretty hot cover band at the time. I was only about 19 at the time. So much fun back then...
Reply: Wow Dennis... you got to work with Thelma Houston?? What an awesome experience! Regarding playing your fill of it...grin- when something brings home the bacon it DOES kind of endear itself to you doesn't it! I'm certainly glad I DIDN'T know that you'd worked with TH before I posted or I might have thought twice and posted something else..I'm relieved you liked it! -Paula

ClayPotts This is a firecracker of a song. You are a wonder in the feeling that you put across. Disco lives in your heart for sure. I enjoyed the dance. ~Clay
Reply: A compliment from someone you admire is always treasured. Glad to have gotten you danding. Frankly I'm shocked at the positive reaction this has gotten from everyone- it has had more views and a higher percentage of comments that anything I've subbed in half the time period. Who would've thought?? But I have to say It sure does make me feel like one of the pack...Not many of my friends and family like the same music I do- so all the positivity has truly made my day! Thanks Clay!

mav2100 I loved disco I was not old enough to go to the clubs either but i did anyway, LOL! I danced all night long to these classics, Thank you for bringing back those memories, You sound fabulous on this too, Keep em coming, XX, Pam
Reply: I think you & I can be great friends Pam! I went to clubs with my fake ID too(Can you say BAD GIRLS!) but it wasn't good enough to get me in the big clubs like studio 54..plus what parent in their right mind would turn loose a 12 or 13 year old in NY?? But it was fun to dream about. The little local clubs we went to were a pale comparison to the real McCoy. But I could cut a MEAN rug ya know! Thanks for stopping by!-Paula
