KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - oneofakind864 performs dont leave me this way on Karaoke Showcase - OK- this is probably going to go over with many of you like onions and chocolate. I have never quite figured out why "Disco" out of all the music in the world inspired such strong feelings. You either love it or hate it- but I don't know anyone who is ambivalent to it. I happen to be in the first category- It brings back warm memories of when I was an adolescent who couldn't wait to be old enough to go to places like studio 54(Of course it closed down before I actually WAS old enough Waaagghhhh!) I remember holding a either a spoon or a hairbrush for a mic and pretending that I was Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, or the lady who did this song-Thelma Houston. So if you don't like disco- move on to another sub- but if this genre brings back fond memories of the funkiest period in dance history- press listen and get yo boogie on! Disco never dies in my book!

~RUSH~ Oh Nooooooooooooooooo, not Discoooooooooooo!~!~!~!~!~! LMAO!~! I think the problem with Disco is that it brings back bad memories of leisure suits, bad hair and air-brushed vans for me. My first to you, Paula....and it certainly won't be the last. Very nice!~!
Reply: OoooohhhhhhhYesss! Don't say i didn't warn you! LOL..the leisure suits wouldn't have been so bad if they weren't made of that god-awful polyester that was like scuba suits- HOT as He!! to wear in a club! The SADER thing is -the HAIR is back! YIKES! You think they would'a learned from the FIRST go round!(sigh) And regarding those airbrushed vans..My Dad would have shot anyone who tried to put me in 1- but I bet you have some fond memries from the back of a few of them! (winking!) Fess up! -Paula

Redhead1 Well, I honestly had a love/hate relationship with the genre. I was a rocker, but there was something about going out to a disco for a great time that was hard to resist. You sound very comfortable with this genre...fabulously comfortable, Paula. Outstanding work! :)
Reply: LMAO...I'll take that as a compliment! I'm probably TOO comfortable with it! Thanks!

Christina During the 70's I was listening to disco and my hubby was listening to rock! I loved disco as dance music. Paula, this is WONDERFUL. I sang this song with my good buddy Joyce (Cantstopsinging), It was a challenge not sounding like a showtune gal (I love showtunes), You sound AWESOME here. BRAVO, lady!!! Hugs, LJ oxox :-) :-) :-)
Reply: I know Joyce well! We have commented many times to each other :) I know what you mean about sounding broadway. It was a challenge to develop the funkier side of my voice since I naturally tend to do the streisand thing too! But it IS a lot of fun to just cut loose and get nasty(vocally of course) every once in awhile. This song was Cathartic..I blew off a heck of a lot of Steam doing it :-) Glad you liked it! Thanks for the listen (and the compliments)-Paula
