Description: |
Now, for something different. This song was written by Duke Ellington. Its an extremely chromatic and complex using sophisticated mathematics that were rare in 1938. He included rising semitones at the end of the bridge opening both A sections making extensive use of secondary dominant chords, progressions, diatonic circle of fifths, and evaded cadences. He recorded it first as an instrumental but returned to the studio weeks later adding lyrics. |
