This song was Written by Sonny Curtis and Jerry Allison, former members of Buddy Holly's band the Crickets. Their 1959 version hit No. 42 in the UK in 1960. After Holly, Valens and The Big Bopper were killed in the 1959 plane crash, teenager Vee was one of a group of local musicians recruited to play at the scheduled concert in Fargo, North Dakota. In 1961, Vee's version of the song reached No. 61 the U.S. and a bigger hit in the UK where the B-side, "Staying In", peaked at #4 and then #8 in New Zealand. There's not much more I can say! LOL |
