The song has since become a jazz standard after gaining popularity in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Many artists have replaced the apostrophe in "ev'ry" with an "e". |

I did two, hour and a half shows on Saturdays and after this nights last show I was introduced to a young man named Mark Ethier. We talked and played Black Jack till the sun came up. Reply: I wouldn't last 5 minutes without music p-p. It's all I have ever known. It's the only "job" I have ever had or wanted. My father was a jazz bassist/guitarist and my mother was a jazz singer. She started training me when I was five and had me singing most of the standards by seven. Music has always been the center of my life/universe. I am blessed. |
