I cherish wonderful family memories. Poor financially, we were rich in love. Dad was a hard-working laborer, 60+ hours a week and a weekend job too. He built pipelines, coming home filthy and dead tired. He earned a high school diploma (correspondence) as I graduated from HS, then he attended college. Exhausted, he did schoolwork every night. Mom was our family rock. She drove to the laundromat to keep Dad in clean and ironed work clothes. Our family was her life. She was the best cook! Mom and Dad were dedicated to each other in an unbreakable bond. They made sure we kids got an education. My brother was first: PhD physics; my sister and I MBA’s. Mom told me that every night in bed she’d lay her arm on the mattress edge, palm up. Then God would hold her hand as she prayed for us. My parents knew God and taught us to know Him too. I’m so thankful to God for them! |
