KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - Jerry performs Alabama Moon on Karaoke Showcase - I've never posted this track. It’s from a late evening (11 pm) 10-years ago. I was in Phil York's Dallas studio (YorkTown Studio) along my friend & artist Floyd Dakil. Phil produced several Willie Nelson albums (and others) and had many Grammys. The best producer IMO and selective on clients. Floyd had not heard this song before but that’s him strumming guitar after he’d grabbed the melody from just 2-quick track listens. Floyd was rounding up the needed studio artists, but we were 60+ days from an actual recording. George Beaty was first--a studio pianist for Sinatra, and Wayne Newton's personal Vegas pianist. So, Phil had Floyd bring me over to ‘hear the song. Floyd and Phil were longtime friends, so I got in---and Phil like me! Days later I did a track with Beaty in his studio. Sadly, a month later Floyd took his life, fighting depression for years. Phil suffered a heart attack and died days after Floyd’s memorial. Heartbroken and missing Floyd, I never finished it.
