Reply: Gail, the Alan Jackson music video makes it a bit more clear. He gets off the bus (Eagle) to visit the grave of an (old friend), sees a visit of an old drunk cowboy (Hank Williams) who then disappears. The rest is about hearing songs sung by the long gone cowboy (Hank) in the midnight air with the smell of alcohol (Hank was known to down a few in his day). Hope this clarifies the lyrics for ya. Rich101 Brad!!! Terrific song selection!!! AND with Halloween approaching this is great!! Loved your rendition of this song very very much my friend!! As a party destination, here we are singing, drinking, eating, dancing and having fun in a graveyard at Midnight!! We are certified Karaoke-ists!!
