KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - ChetBassetti performs Monday Monday on Karaoke Showcase - The Mamas and the papas performed from 1965 to 1968. They were composed of...John Phillips, Denny Doherty, Cass Elliot, and Michelle Phillips. Their sound was based on vocal harmonies. "Monday, Monday" is a 1966 song and 1967 grammy winner written by John Phillips. It was the group's only #1 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Phillips wrote the song quickly(20 minutes). The song includes a false ending, with a pause before the coda of the song, modulating up a half note for the bridges and refrains of the song. (I hope u guys are paying attention here..there will be a quiz) Joyce actually met Michelle Phillips who told her that this song was very hard for them to record. It sure seemed easy enough to me..I sent her my stuff (the backing track contained no backing vocals) and she added the backing that sounded like 100 angels..easy as falling off a log!...I was just happy to be involved...Chet
