KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - Lord Burnstrum performs Harold, the Helicopter on Karaoke Showcase - This song was written by Mike O'Donnell and Junior Campbell for "Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends", a hugely popular animated television series based on Rev. W. Awdry's "The Railway Series" books originally written for his son Christopher, who would later write many more volumes for the series. I recorded my rendition on the 21st May 2020 and was planning on uploading it in early July to tie in with Christopher Awdry's 80th birthday. However, the news came on the 30th May of the death of Michael Angelis, longtime narrator of the UK version of the show. Although I am of the generation that appreciated the earlier series' that featured Ringo Starr, I share my recording of this song at this time to honour Michael's tremendous contribution to the franchise, since he was to more than one generation the definitive voice of Thomas.

ChetBassetti LB..I wasn't sure what to expect on this..but the music is fabulous and the lyrics are so much fun..really enjoyed this..thanks for bringing this here!...Chet
Reply: Thank you very much for your listen and comment Chet. Yes, this song is nothing if not unusual for this site, and it's fair to say the genre has a target audience that I am WAY off! However, amongst the rather turgid bile (that would not wash with anyone over the age of seven) was this, what I would call "gem" of a song too good not to sing and share. It has the nostalgic feel of one of these great superhero TV themes of the 1980s (although I think this came out in the mid 90s). Glad you enjoyed

KaraTroll Hi LB, an engaged and superb rendition of this story telling song. Thank you for sharing your contribution together with your accompanying background story. I hope all is well with you and yours in these special and difficult times. Have a good start of the week my friend. Kara
Reply: Thank you for digging this out to listen Kara. I do like to go for something different, and for a novelty song (a recently discovery for me) this one is not half bad. Same to you my friend - COVID-19 has put paid to my karaoke nights at the pub for the foreseeable, but thankfully my collection of backing tracks and communities such as this are still here and keeping me from going completely crazy.

Starlyter - Brad I have to admit, this is a first listen to the song but you sure tell a great musical story. I do believe I could see the animation although never had previously seen the series before. Guess I'm dating myself. Anyway, great sing LB. Enjoyed my listen this morning....Brad
Reply: Hi Brad, thank you for your listen and kind comments. Well, there's plenty of Youtube footage if you're that interested! Even a music video for this song.
