I first heard this 2006 released song last fall. A young man (perhaps 20) sang this at a karaoke event..the room was the usual noisy "only half listening" chatter..shortly into the song the room got quiet..at the end you coulda heard a pin drop...then BIG applause..the kid was an excellant singer and he picked one heck of a song. I made a mental note then forgot about it until last weekend..I heard it again and was instantly hooked on the music and the lyrics. If you know anyone that struggled or is struggling with suicide this song hits home hard. According to lead singer Isaac Slade, the song was composed and influenced by his experience while working as a mentor at a camp for troubled teenagers. The verses of the song describe an attempt by an adult to confront a troubled teen. Vaguely familiar with this and your voice is the one with enough sincerity to pull the message through. I especially noticed the nuance in your voice toward the end.. the compassion without overkill.
