KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - ChetBassetti performs Shake It on Karaoke Showcase - A 1979 top 40...Joyce provided some great harmony backups that bailed me out... I think instead of calling them the Socialites...I prefer "The Symphonites" cuz it "fills your ears" with blended melodies..thanks Joyce! Ian Mathews is new to me..I remember this song but not him..thankfully..wikipedia to the rescue... "Shake It" had first been recorded by its composer Terence Boylan (listen to his version on https://youtu.be/k95l1bKqE9U ), being introduced on Boylan's 1977 self-titled album. Not chosen for US single release, Boylan's "Shake It" was given a 4 November 1977 single release in Ian Matthews's native UK; however Matthews had been living in the US since 1973, and it was on an FM radio station in Seattle that he first heard Boylan's "Shake It". After Matthews phoned the radio station for info on the track the disc jockey sent him a copy of the Terence Boylan album from which Matthews would "cover" two songs: "Shake It" and "Don't Hang Up Your Dancing Shoes"....Chet

mav2100 Good Lord Chet & Joyce I have been eyeing this one and now I am so excited to finally get here. Everything you two do is so fantastic. Wow even more impressive with that sax dancing in the back. Those back ups are perfect. I do believe you found your perfect duet partner. It's a blessing. I had mine and there was nothing that we wouldn't try. I could dance all night with you two serenading me! Wooo hoooo! This is Great! I can't wait to here the next collaboration from you two. You both ROCK! I simply love this. Keep em coming! Stay safe and healthy. Mwahhhhhhhhhhhhhh and Hugs, Pam

Cantstopsinging Hi Chet.. Your voice fit into this seamlessly. You are the star on this. I was glad to fill in those backups!! This is another song I re-discovered while listening to different music stations during my workout. Thanks also to anyone else that listens to this recording. I can always count on you to put your all in your recordings, Chet
Reply: I almost gave up on this song as it was not in my "strike-zone" (I resorted to using a heavy blanket over my head to cut down room ambiences) but it is a good song and I learned some things and ..as always..had fun working with you and the "Symphonites" on this! ;-) Thanks again...Chet
