KARAOKE SCENE MAGAZINE ONLINE! - ChetBassetti performs Pretty Ballerina on Karaoke Showcase - This 1966 song by the group The Left Banke peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was one of the first pop songs to use the Lydian mode in its melody (there's a fun fact to bring up with your friends). I was drifting off to sleep a couple days ago and "ballerina" popped into my head for some reason...I did a google search and eventually found this song. I have not to my recollection heard this song since I was a kid..but..I like it..so..I decided to record it (I did a VR strip which was amazingly good). "Pretty Ballerina" is one of several songs that Brown wrote about Renée Fladen, the girlfriend of Left Banke guitarist Tom Finn and the object of Brown's affections. Other songs written about her include the band's biggest hit, "Walk Away Renée", and "She May Call You Up Tonight". The original version was sung by Steve Martin Caro who just recently died from heart disease on January 14, 2020. He was 71. He died just 17days or so before this word popped into my head.Chet

Cantstopsinging Chet, I know you posted this on the other site but I had to hear it again from you! You know how I feel about this song and I have heard enough recordings from you to know you handle songs like this with extra care. Great control with those highs.
Reply: Joyce..thanks for the re-listen. I was not satisfied with that recording..so... before I posted here I re-did it....Usually I try to make myself NOT submit any song on the day that I finish it..wait til tomorrow and see if I'm still satisfied that I fixed the biggest "grunt-fumbles"..so..this version has fewer uggs..thanks again... Chet

Catalin Hi Chet..i have a great admiration for someone who can touch high notes and makes them easy to listen. As someone who worked a lot with voice remove tool i must to admit this is a very good job..you managed even to keep the sterreo effect and your singing is awesome!Excellent!
Reply: Thanks much..re" the VR..it was real easy in this case..just about the only thing in the center channel was the vocal..I coulda blindly stripped the entire song and it woulda been ok..sometimes u get lucky!..Chet

Great Job on the vocal removal. It turned out great. Add some sweet vocals and you got a hit!! Excellent Sing Chet. I love it!! Mwahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Pam
