I cannot believe I never heard this song until my daughter sang it to my grandson two years ago. It was released on Billy Joels River of Dreams album in 1993, inspired by his daughter Alexa Ray Joel. I have always known that I hibernated through the 80s, but now I see I must have slept right throught the early part of the 90s as well. This is a beautiful lullaby and after hearing it I knew I had to record it one day. After losing my best friend in August and having a bout of a nasty cough with chest congestion, I decided it is now or never. My first recording in at least two years with new recording software that I am still trying to suss out. Eeeeeeeeeeeek! I think the vocals may be too loud. I am remixing as I edit this description. Great to get a recording out of you, Pam!!! Especially one with harmony.. and this is a new one for me too. Did you chorus the upper harmony.. I liked where you positioned them. You did fine on the balance of vocals to music. Joyce |
Reply: Hello Joyce, Thank you so much for stopping by for a listen. I did two tracks of harmony and couldn't decide which I preferred so I panned them 100% left and 100% right. I always pan harmonies, but never all the way like this. I remixed with the backing 1 dB louder and it's better. Thank you so much for your support. I really do appreciate you so much. This is one of my absolute all time favorite Billy Joel songs, and you have done an amazing job girl! Your vocals just shined and shined on this, and you should be proud. Great recording all the way around!! |
