Odie: Hi Gilly. Heck this is about as good as it gets right here! Wow, this is just a dry run through? Great, moving vocal! The ebb and flow of your phrasing and expression works so well with the classical guitar and strings. If you want to change something maybe put a bit of reverb on the vocal so it blends even more with the instrumentation, but I wouldn't change much else. A more modern, made from scratch version could sound cool too but it'd be tough to beat this more traditional, simple and pretty arrangement. Once again, outstanding vocal! -- Don
Reply: Yes- just a sing straight through. I didn't bother with reverb etc, because I knew I'd just have to strip it to send it to my friend to play with. Plus I suck at that side of things:) Funny enough, I didn't listen to the backing before I started recording, so a bunch of parts took me by surprise and I had to slightly change up the phrasing so I could stay on track... oops! I just use garageband to record. When I sing it again I'll have my friend's music to go off of and won't get so messed up! |
