Mel Torme happens to be one of my favorite vocalists, from the Big Band era. Since I was a kid (my Dad was a big fan of the era's music) I listened and learned to appreciate many of these great ASB tunes. Your take on this classic was no exception. I did miss the Torme signature intro to this wonderful tune, as originally written. Regardless, this was a smooth as silk rendition. You definitely gave it justice.

Boy, this takes me back to my dancing days. I actually took it as serious as I do my singing - LOL! A fun dance tune, indeed. Seems like you took on the challenge to sing this tune in a higher register, which you pulled off in great fashion. I really enjoyed the phrasing and timing you employed while delivering the lyrics. It seemed very natural, making the song that much more enjoyable. Enjoying your style, for sure. TC, buddy.

I'm not familiar with this particular tune, but, I enjoyed your easy flowing delivery. A very polished arrangement/mix and sing. Loved your diction and the way you stretched-out certain words, as you completed some of the verses. It actually worked to make the listener listen, even more closely. You're the real deal sister - loved it!

This was an awesome sounding mix/rendition, friend. I especially liked the smooth even flow of your delivery and the nice doubling effect you used. This gave the song a truly unique signature and appealing aspect to this particular cover. Your use of vibrato was professionally executed and consistent, throughout. I did hear the skip/clip (don't have a clue what caused it). Excellent work, man.

Reply: Thank you so much for your listen and comment,my friend...It wasn't so much a quality recording,as it was a first and only take,not feeling "the mood" to mix down and take time to check eq and levels in the first place..I was feeling the song,and I hit record...that was it...LOL
Your detailed critique is very much appreciated,and gives me insight as to certain aspects of the song that I may not hear myself...Thanks again! |

Reply: Thanks, John! I like to sing these Go-Go songs, cause I rarely, if ever, have to change the key. :) I'm pretty sure I'll need to used lyrics sheets when I start recording again with new software. I used to use a program called CDG2VCD to get on-screen lyrics, but it only worked with Windows XP. |
