Mr. Harrington has already stated that you only need a sync license to MAKE karaoke. you don't need one to play it.

However streaming might be another issue altogether, so who knows.

You wouldn't be performing those songs. It's just music with lyrics scrolling.

Unless they provide a feature that suppresses the lead vocal, I don't see this as much of a threat to karaoke at all.

I didn't think YouTube would be a threat to KJs but from what I hear, it has been in some areas. Can't imagine trying to run a show depending on a venue's wireless stability, but I guess some are willing to give it a shot. Beats buying or stealing your music I guess. Problem is, nobody to tell them to stop doing it.

The difference there is that YouTube karaoke has lead vocals removed. Spotify does not.
