My very favoritist disc AMS-1509 with my very favoritist tune to sing "The Walkin Blues" by Royal Crown Revue has developed a skip on the bridge where I do some freestyle trash talking! Now Amerising has gone out of business and I can find only a few of thier discs on Ebay or at supply houses. The only other person I know that has this disc is Lonman! So what's a karaokier to do when an out -of -print and out of business disc goes bad?????

if it was me....I'd keep the original, and have "someone" make me 2 backups. I think kinda sorta that might still be "legal". I guess it depends on whose interpretation concerning "legal" you want to cater to.. Just a suggestion.

I hate to tell you but, I told you so. Making backup's has it's advantages.

Since you have the original ...If you could get someone to make a "copy"
You would be CRAZY not to take it.  I have yet to meet the person HERE or ANYWHERE that walks the straight line 100% of the time.  There is nothing wrong with replacing a disc you legally purchased in the 1st place. ( even if it means getting a copy from some one else).   It doesn't make you a PIRATE it doesn't make you a BAD PERSON  it doesn't make you a THIEF.

As said over and over again, any court is going to interpret the SPIRIT of the copyright laws and not just blindly prosecute it to the letter. This isn't a witch hunt, those that are prosecuted are those who are intentionally avoiding paying for copyrighted music, and are often seeing financial gain from the illegal use of someone else's labor/creativity!!

If you have a bad disc that is out of print and make a copy to eliminate the skip, go ahead and use it but KEEP your original, purchased product. The spirit of the law is to keep people from taking advantage of the artist's goods and services without compensating them for that good/service. If you have already legally paid them for their wares, then making the copy is no longer stealing their product without compensation. So make the copy and just hold on to the original to show that you are compliant with the spirit of the copyright law and YOU'LL BE FINE!!!!

Probably happened because you STOMP all the time to the beat of the song, trying to emphasise SOMETHING...

I know I worried like all blazes when you did it at my show!!! You will eventually damage the media by doing that! THe entire area shook like you wouldn't believe when you did that.

You might be able to send the disc to a retailer like DOOWOP that has a disc refinishing service... be wary of the disc doctors... they can ruin more discs than they help (personal experience here!) As long as the scratch is on the bottom of the disc, they might be able to get it out by removing and repolishing/refinishing the bottom of the disc. If the scratch is on the foil side, you're S.O.L.!!

 SwingcatKurt,

Just thought I'd share my findings with you. TSCKaraoke.net has that disc in stock. Just left their site. Happy buying.

I didn't notice, I don't stand on the stage - off to the side on a concrete foundation covered with carpet.
There coincidently happened to be a minor earthquake at the precise moment you were singing though......    LMAO

j/k  didn't really notice, was listening to the song.

Seriously now folks, I've seen Kurt sing at Denny's karaoke a couple of times now and he's really a good singer and dynamic blues performer.  Minor earthquakes are a distinct possibility though!
