Keep dreaming on UBI.

The crisis of 2008 was because Barney Frank and pals wanted to make home ownership available to people who couldn't afford it once their adjustable mortgages came home to roost. I think it a unintended consequence of an ill-conceived policy ... not 'deliberate.'

This is different. Pandemic or not, its time to end global 'supply chains' and create an economy based upon self-sufficiency. If there is extra to trade, fine, but unless we can create and source everything we need within what we control, it's a slow ride down the tubes for the majority of citizens.

Anyway, I've had my say.

:!: So your position is instead of the world moving forwards, you want to go backwards to a time before globalazation? I don't know if that can be done. Already we as a nation have retreated back to within our borders, both economically, have scrapped many of our existing alliances, and treaties. Even though many in Congress on both sides of the isle wanted voters to have a chance at home ownership, the banks exploited the situation to line their own pockets. The economic meltdown that resulted had to be bailed out by the taxpayer's, who did get paid back, since the banks still did not want to follow Federal guidelines. It is impossible to to end global supply chains, because we don't have all of the natural resources needed to sustain our present economy. Trade is vital, the question is how we structure that trade, so as not to have shortages of goods, services, and materials. A totally self sufficient economy minus international trade just isn't practical, or necessary.

:?: One question Paradigm if you are in isolation, are the venues you work for still having karaoke, if so did they replace you? I hope you are alright and not suffering serious symptoms, what about your family how are they? Mr.Scott wanted to know if hosts knew of anyone with the virus. I starting to wonder how many hosts have had to put themselves in self isolation, since they are on the front lines, when they go back to work?

As I've said, no bar or restaurant or any place that draws in a crowd should be open right now. It's just too risky.

The Corona Virus is not what's killing people... it's people too stupid to follow the rules, that's killing people.

If you can't see it by now, let me spell it out for you... our government is not interested in saving lives. It's not in their political agenda.

We cannot go back to "business as usual" and reopen everything with a pandemic that's spreading like wildfire. How do you think it will ever go away?

It won't. Just not going to happen. Because people are too stupid to put an and to it.

So, because our leaders want you to believe that this thing doesn't really exist... and people won't do the right thing... and since there is no unity in fighting it... it will always be here with us. It will continue to spread and continue to kill. Eventually, it will wipe out the human race as we know it.

The sad part is, if we all came together as one, the virus would be defeated right now. But since that's never going to happen, prepare to see your family and friends die. It's just a matter of time.

I don't know what the rules are for Arizona but in my state... if an employee (waiter, waitresses, bartender, etc.) gets Corona Virus, the whole bar must shut down. I would consider Paradigm an employee of the bar, even though he may be an independent contractor... but he's still an employee of the bar.

:!: I feel you are right Alan, by him just being there and interacting with patrons, he would be infecting all he comes in contact with. The very definition of contact tracing, also all of the patrons attending would be exposed and have to self isolate.

I remember a few short weeks ago when Mr. Scott proudly exclaimed that he wasn't worried about going back to hosting karaoke, since Utah has a very insignificant amount of cases. So... he goes back to work for a bar in which there are no guidelines in place, no social distancing, no masks, no nothing. And we told him it was just a matter of time...

And now, Utah may become the next hotspot. Here's what's making headlines...

Utah could enter a complete lockdown on July 1 as COVID-19 cases continue to run rampant within the state

So, Mr. Scott... maybe it would have been in your best interest if you had listened to what LR and I tried to tell you instead of saying STFU.

I knew this was going to happen and that you were putting yourself in serious risk but you wouldn't listen. Think about it...

If your singers don't care, and the bar doesn't care, this is what happens. And now you all have to pay the price because nobody wanted to follow the rules.

It seems that based on what Lonnie has said about the bar he works for, they are doing everything right. They are taking every possible precaution including using plexiglass shields and no one seated at the bar. I would feel perfectly safe going back to work under these conditions. This is what all bars should be doing.

But then, on the flip side, you have bars like the ones Mr. Scott and Paradigm host in where there are no safety measures in effect at all. These are the bars that I would never go back to since the risk is so great.

It would be nice if all bars cared about their customers the way Lonnie's bar does. Once again, is working at this type of bar that's not taking precautions worth the risk to you?

Paradigm... I wish you a speedy recovery, however, when you're cured... I would seriously think twice about going back. I've read that people who've gotten the virus have had relapses. So, stay out of that environment.

benefit #1: getting paid again /being employed again

benefit #2: a chance to play new music out loud. it's been 3 months of no karaoke. there's been some new radio songs out. it was nice to hear them out loud for the first time in-between singers as filler music; see how it sounded.

if you haven't started back up yet, you're gonna not love spending extra time wiping everything down after every singer; more than you've done so in the past. and you'll really feel like wiping down everything extra extra, now. before all this, you did it without thinking much. now, (for me) you see every single person and you think about them a little more, automatically. especially when they keep coming back up to sing.
