Well the numbers are in, because of the extra 600.00 a week stimulus money, even though GDP shrank nearly 33%, real income increased 7.3%. The economy was kept from going into a steep depression because workers still had purchasing power. This of course has come to an end because of the breakdown in talks about continued stimulus relief. This shows directly paying people can keep the economy from collapsing during an emergency like the pandemic. It is now thought that real income will fall, and we will be faced with millions unable to pay their rents, mortgages, put food on the table, or pay for medical expenses. UBI should be made available at least as long as the pandemic is destroying the economy.

We are nearly into September and we still do not have a resolution to the next phase of stimulus relief. It is caught up in the political fighting over funding our first responders, making sure our elections run smoothly, are secure, and funding for a basic service that we all rely on the Post Office. Local and state governments have been stretched to the limit, because of expenses related to covid-19. Gone are all of those rainy day funds in both Republican and Democrat, Red and Blue states. This makes of course those waiting for their stimulus money to pay for food and shelter, down to spending the last of their savings just to stay afloat. This should show everyone the need for UBI, it would provide a floor of support during this time of economic uncertainty. It would also provide consumers with buying power needed to keep our consumer based economy from going into Depression mode. Like Social Security and Medicare it should be self funding by taxes shared by all of us, otherwise we will have more of this boom, bust cycle associated with unfettered capitalism.

Welcome to the "great" America we were promised. Don't like it? Then say so on November 3. Your words here won't make any difference, but your ballot will.

I vote every election and have since I was first old enough to vote. Funny thing about votes they should all be counted, each should have equal weight, none of this electing electors to decide who is president, then it truly would be the will of the people, reducing the chance of stealing an election. The popular vote is the only democratic method to choose a leader.

P.S. Words are important, if you say or do nothing that means you by your silence are condoning the current status quo.

We are coming closer and closer to the day of reckoning aka the election. Republicans are now trying to jump off a sinking ship aka the Trump boat, the problem is it is a little late. The enablers are now going to pay the price for rubber stamping all of Desperate Donald's failures. It is extremely unfortunate that all have to suffer for these failures. It is said we learn from our mistakes let's hope so. The Donald does want a stimulus package, at least for the moment, the trouble is Senate Republicans have found their backbone at a very late time, about three weeks before the election. They have suddenly become deficit hawks, chicken hawks, but still are saying no to the president. Not the Senators in close elections, but the one's who are not running this time around. Millions of Americans are facing eviction, foreclosure, bankruptcy, state and local governments are going to lay off teachers, policemen, firemen, health care workers, further increasing the number of the unemployed. If we had a system of UBI in place many would still be able to buy the basics, and keep a roof over their heads until things improve. We need to build a strong foundation to the recovery, so that average citizens will not be the unwilling pawns, in political back and forth.

Desperate Donald's town hall meeting last night was quite interesting. He admitted more or less he owes more than 421 million dollars, he says it is low level leverage since his real estate holdings are worth far more. He did not say if his properties secured the debt in any way. Most rank and file government employees could not get a security clearance owing that amount of debt, much less the president of the United States, who is exposed to the highest level intelligence this county has available. He said his debt was no big deal, that shows how much him and the average American worker are in different worlds. Nearly 40 million people are unemployed currently, millions are facing eviction, foreclosure, are having a tough time feeding their families, don't have access to health care during a pandemic. I have stated many times that UBI could provide a financial floor that these families would not fall through. The stimulus relief still is stalled in the Senate, it probably won't be touched until after the election. If Trump wins then something will be passed, if Biden wins, and the Republicans lose the Senate, you can bet Moscow Mitch will do nothing. He will make things as bad as he can for the new administration coming in, just out of spite.

According to forbes.com: Donald Trump Has At Least $1 Billion In Debt, More Than Twice The Amount He Suggested.
