Frankly I am more than happy with my Karma purchase, and I have had ZERO problems in more than four years of use. There were some issues prior to January 2012 with high CPU useage, then the problem with the data base change in early 2015.

What I have learned from life is..... don't fix what ain't broke, and latest is not always the greatest.

Good luck in your quest for nirvana.

Agree. Issues with latest version, but Karma 2016.0.07 with doblon codecs R-o-c-k-s! Glitch free performance every time!

First of all.......YOU can keygen all you wish, but I respect the rights of the software producer even if he is a dick.

Second......I am not experiencing any bugs or crashes with the current build. I suggest in your case it is probably PEBKAC.

Third.......You lost your credibility long ago....

chris, no probs playing mp3g on karma 2016.5.30 (latest) they play great. Issues playing mp4s, videos, especially my converted pioneer dvds. Just looping constantly from the beginning of the track similar to that of a broken vinyl record. Only way to play it right was to close/open karma, then it will play correctly. but everything plays perfect on version 2016.0.07.

btw are you still using doblon codecs (summer gleason's link)?

On versions prior to the most current I was rock solid with playing MP4s using the Doblin codecs.
When I installed the latest version (uninstalling old version and then installing new version) I was no longer able to play MP4s using the Doblin codecs (even reinstalled them as well).
As much as I hate all things Apple, I did install Quicktime for the latest version of Karma and what do you know...all mp4s play perfectly again...go figure.

Wow, RLC, you ain't kidding. New version works great.

I uninstalled the old version, uninstalled doblon codecs. Reboot, installed the latest karma version 2016.5.30, installed quicktime, load my tracks, reboot & voila! Works like a champ. Now & then I will have graphics delay from the old, but this new version syncs graphics to the music very well. Looks like Bob tweaked this recently. Anyway, It’s all well & good. Thanks.

I am using QuickTime as well. I have a couple of machines with both QuickTime and the Doblon codec installed and those work too.

I bought the Grahams Kiosk software as I simply didn't have any darn time to build a kiosk in Lytrad.
He is looking into a CSV import so I can export from Karasoft to the Kiosks. I have to keep resetting
songbooks live so I really need it offline for shows.
Quick customer service!!
I prefer using paper requests, keeps the human element in there and makes the singers COMMIT to each song. :D

yes Song slips are the standard, or Should be standard in Karaoke to keep that Singer/Host communication going.

It's certain "better" at that than a kiosk, but taking the slips away and making them SPEAK to the KJ and having the KJ respond is the very definition of communication.

True but leads to a slow show flow. A balance between the two is best as you always have someone asking questions if you provide them the opening. The KJ at the owners bar is a personal request guy, no slips, 40%-50% dead air.
FYI I use two slips....... White standard, yellow for unlisted. Yellow are easy to spot in the pile making it easier to make time to hunt down
said tune purchases on the web within show. If I can get it, I call the singer up to place it in their list someplace.

Chris, I hate it when a someone walks up to me while someone is singing and yells a song request at me. It is rude to interfere with the singer's performance in that way. Song slips eliminate that issue for the most part, and puts the "incorrect song info" on the shoulders of the person that filled out the song slip.

No slips.

I personally communicate with every single person that signs up.

I set up so that I am near the singers/stage but approachable by anyone. They don't have to scream and it simply does not interfere with the singers.

I adopted this method after trying both slips and kiosk and have found that it prevents rotation abuse, erroneous song choices, fake signups, illegible scrawl and signing up for a song that has already been reserved/performed or that I don't have.

Slips cost money and then end up wasted, trashed, on the floor and require writing utensils at additional expense (not always). When I used them I had people put them in my discard pile when I wasn't looking and then complain at me when their name wasn't called.

I am a communicator. Slips or no slips. I take the initiative to interact.

I tested the latest Karma version with QuickTime for a good three hours Thursday, mostly mp4s from kv, k.net & converted pioneer lasers, dvds. I concluded it was ready for primetime. Friday, I was pleased to introduce the new version to the rigors  of non-stop five-hour show. And again 5 hours last night.

Talk about entirely trouble-free operation in high performance mode! Simply amazing! Everything went very smoothly. Not even a hiccup!

Platform: MSi gt72s Dominator laptop, win10, latest 6th gen intel core i7-6820hk processor, 48 rams. Hey, according to Lonman “nothing is overkill if you like it”. I might add: & will perform a lot better.

It doesn’t get any better than this. I have no reluctance in saying: “Thank you Bob for making my job a lot easier!” Thanks to rlc & chris as well for their sound advice.

NOTE: Just posting my recent observation for the benefit of other karma users (if they’re interested). I have no intention of starting another hosting program discussion. I tried other programs & they’re also great as noted from my purchase of compuhost three years ago & mtu last year. It’s just a matter of personal program preference for me, nothing more.

I believe chris was saying "Problem exist between keyboard and chair". :)

Update: Graham has added .CSV import along with other requested features including custom title for your venue.

Big thank you to Graham for providing us with Prompt customization services along with very fast "OFFLINE" songbook kiosk software.

We try to position our booth away from the singers so this isn't an issue. Not all of our venue layouts allow for it, but it doesn't seem to interfere at those locations.

We have used only walk-up and speak requests for 6 years now. No slips. No kiosks.
